The quiz will cover both the text of Beowulf and the discussions we've had in class.

You may use your notes and your books.

The quiz will consist of ten questions: five objective (multiple choice, true-false, etc.) and five subjective (short answer).

• Know the outline of the plot. You need not recall specific details (you can use your book), but you should know where details are located.
• You should know the main characters.
• Know the major conflicts in the story--both on the literal level (person vs. person, etc.) and the abstract (person vs. self, person vs. fate, etc.)
• Know the major themes that we've discussed (e.g. good vs. evil, fate, hero, king, etc.).
• You should know the cultural and religious elements of the story (Anglo-Saxon, Norse/Germanic, pagan, Christian).
